£29.99

GHK-Cu is the copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, a molecule that occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva and urine. It is one of the most studied compounds in skin and connective-tissue biology, with research spanning wound repair, extracellular-matrix remodelling, antioxidant activity and the gene-expression changes tied to collagen synthesis. The 100mg vial is sized for the reconstitution volumes typical of tissue and cosmetic research. Lyophilised powder, released against a third-party HPLC certificate on this page. In-vitro research use only.

Published research on GHK-Cu is indexed on PubMed. See our full UK buyer's guide for Research Peptides.

Research Overview

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper tripeptide, glycine, histidine, and lysine bound to a copper (II) ion. It was first isolated in 1973 by the biochemist Loren Pickart from human plasma albumin and has since been detected in human saliva, urine, and a range of tissues. Its research record covers the stimulation of collagen and elastin synthesis, support for wound healing and tissue remodelling, antioxidant activity, and an unusually wide reach into gene expression. Genomic studies indicate that GHK-Cu shifts the expression of more than 4,000 human genes, roughly 6% of the genome, touching pathways for DNA repair, proteasome function, oxidative-stress response, and anti-inflammatory signalling. Much of the work sits in dermatology, where studies have tracked its effects on skin remodelling, wrinkle depth, and barrier function, and a further strand runs through hair follicle biology, examining follicle growth and size. The copper ion is not incidental: it is central to the molecule's activity, acting as a cofactor in the enzymatic steps behind collagen crosslinking and antioxidant defence.

Laboratory Handling

  • Keep lyophilised vials at -20°C in a light-protected space. Hold the reconstituted solution at 2-8°C and use within 4 weeks.
  • Shield from direct light, since copper peptide complexes can degrade under prolonged UV or fluorescent exposure.
  • Reconstitute with bacteriostatic or sterile water, swirling gently until the characteristic blue tint is even throughout.
  • Use glass or good-quality polypropylene containers, and avoid extended contact with metal surfaces that might interact with the copper ion.
